The role of organic fertilizers in agricultural production is mainly manifested in the following aspects:
First, improve the soil and fertilize the soil. After applying organic fertilizers to the soil, organic matter can effectively improve the soil's physical and chemical conditions and biological characteristics, mature the soil, enhance the soil's ability to maintain and supply fertilizers and buffers, and create good soil conditions for crop growth.
Second, increase yield and improve quality. Organic fertilizers are rich in organic matter and various nutrients, providing nutrients for crops. After decomposing, organic fertilizers provide energy and nutrients for soil microbial activities, promote microbial activities, accelerate the decomposition of organic matter, and produce active substances that can promote crop growth and improve the quality of agricultural products.
Third, improve the utilization rate of fertilizers. Organic fertilizers contain more nutrients but relatively low content, slow release, while chemical fertilizers have high nutrient content per unit, less components, and fast release. The two are applied in a reasonable combination to complement each other. The organic acids produced by the decomposition of organic matter can also promote the dissolution of mineral nutrients in soil and chemical fertilizers. Organic fertilizers and chemical fertilizers promote each other, which is conducive to crop absorption and improve the utilization rate of fertilizers.
